Mark Gourley, from the Castlemara area of the town, was 36 when he disappeared on the morning of Saturday 7 March 2009. There has been no contact with family or friends since.

Mark is described as 5ft 9ins tall and of medium build, with fair cropped hair. His right eyebrow is pierced and he has tattoos on his left shoulder and left forearm and a tattoo of his first name on his right arm.

He was last seen wearing a black waterproof jacket with a grey design on the shoulders, black Umbro tracksuit bottoms and black leather trainers.

Officers are making a fresh appeal for information about the missing man and will be in the Carrickfergus area on Wednesday to try to jog people's memories.

"Police would appeal, on behalf of Mark's family and friends, for anyone with any information - no matter how insignificant - to come forward and help us with our inquiries," a PSNI spokesman said.

Information can be passed to police on 0845 600 8000 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
