Army technical officers have attended a security alert at Clarendon Dock in Belfast city centre, after a car ignited close to the Policing Board headquarters.
The vehicle broke through a barrier into the complex at around 7.30pm on Saturday evening, and was then abandoned close to the offices of the Policing Board and partially set alight.
Nobody was hurt and no damage was caused except to the rear of the car.
Two men were seen making off in a red car.
Another vehicle was found alight in Hillman Street in north Belfast and police are not ruling out a link.
Detectives investigating the incidents have appealed for anyone who may have information to contact them.
