Man arrested over Ballynahinch burglary

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an aggravated burglary in Ballynahinch, Co Down on Thursday.

A man in his 70s was taken to hospital following the incident in which three masked men entered a house on the Crossgar Road at around 11.30pm.

He received injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

A woman in her 60s was also in the house at the time but was not injured.

It's believed the trio, who were wearing gloves, left with jewellery at around 1.30am on Friday.

The detained man was also arrested in relation to a crown court warrant and has been remanded in custody over the warrant.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact CID in Downpatrick Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.

Scumbags preying on elderly people - absolutely disgusting - hope they are caught quickly and get put away for a long long time - time for all elderly people to be provided with a panic button so they can feel safe in their own homes. Hope the gentleman is ok.
