John Paul O'Connor, 35, from Brockagh Road in Eglinton, admitted a charge of theft by an employee by stealing electrical and photographic equipment belonging to the security company Building Protection Systems.

He stole the items between 27 March and 10 April.

A defence solicitor told District Judge Barney McElholm that £6,600 of restitution had been paid by O'Connor to his former employer leaving £400 outstanding.

The case was adjourned until Friday to enable O'Connor to pay the remaining amount.
