A shopping centre in west Belfast has been evacuated due to a security alert.
Dozens of shoppers at a shopping centre in west Belfast had to be evacuated after a telephone bomb warning.

The alert at the Kennedy Centre on the Falls Road began at 11am on Saturday morning.

Police searched the premises but nothing suspicious was found.

SDLP west Belfast councillor Tim Attwood has condemned the hoax alert.

"This hoax caused massive disruption on the main shopping day of the week, with families with small children having to be evacuated in response to a telephoned bomb warning", he said.

"People naturally have absolutely no patience with this sort of thing and the sort of criminal mind which thinks them up. We all need the persons responsible to be brought to justice so we can go about our lives in peace."

The Kennedy Centre reopened just before 1pm on Saturday.
