Police are investigating after a body was found by members of the public at Magilligan Point, Co Londonderry.

It is understood that the discovery was made by primary school children on Tuesday morning.

While police have confirmed that the body is that of a man, no further details have been released.

Officers are investigating the surrounding circumstances and a post mortem examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.

how awful for the children. some of which would never have saw a dead body before. like something you would see in a crime drama. children finding bodies. i hope it will bring relief to the family of the missing person. but it would not be what they wanted to hear.

Poor children having to come across such a sight. Hoping the body is identified and the family are strong enough to come to terms with what has happened
