The body of Patricia Bardon was found at Elm Court, off Donegall Pass, in the south of the city on Monday afternoon.

After a post-mortem examination was carried out on Tuesday, police said they were treating the case as murder.

A 53-year-old man arrested on Monday is still being questioned.

PSNI officers say they are now trying to establish Patricia's movements in the days before her death.

Detective Chief Inspector John McVea said the murder was a terrible tragedy.

"Patricia was found dead on the day of her birthday. It was also the day she was due to be married," he said.

"We want to know where Patricia was in the days leading up to her death. If you saw her or spoke to her anytime between Friday August 21 and Monday August 23, my investigation team would like to speak to you."

The cause of death has not yet been released.
