Shu, on the Lisburn Road, came in at number 86 on the list of the best places to eat out in the UK, following a vote by industry experts at the 2013 National Restaurant Awards.
It also picked up the title of best in Northern Ireland for a second consecutive year.
Alan Reid from Shu said: "Winning the best restaurant in Northern Ireland is a fantastic honour and being ranked in the top 100 restaurants in the UK is the icing on the cake for us.
"We set our standards exceptionally high at SHU and feel that these achievements are a testament to our success and the hard work the team puts in on a daily basis."
Meanwhile the Hand & Flowers, a pub-restaurant owned by TV chef Tom Kerridge in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, was named as the overall best restaurant in the UK.
