An Irish aid ship bound for Gaza - believed to have two west Belfast men as passengers - has been boarded by the Israeli navy.

It is understood that the ship, the MV Saoirse, is carrying 15 passengers and crew members in total.

Along with a Canadian vessel, it is being led to Israel by the navy.

It has been reported that no-one was injured in the operation.

Irish Ship to Gaza spokesperson Laurence Davis said: "We are very concerned for the safety of all those aboard the Irish and Canadian boats.

"We call upon all people of conscience to demand their immediate release."

In May 2010, Israeli troops stormed aid ships leaving nine dead.

At the time, Shane Dillon, an Irish activist held by the troops, described the attack as an inhumane act on humane people.

You got to love the poor mites like "love isreal." He is so full of it he can't even spell the state he is referring to properly. As for Kelly, do you know what constitutes an act of piracy? Go educate yourself a bit before making silly comments. Better still, go educate yourself concerning any circumstances you are commenting on lest you look like a fool and start chanting the line long live isreal (sic) like your fool friend without a notion as to what you are talking about.

if these so called humanitarian activists did more here instead of sticking their noses into the middle east problems, i dont recall them ever doing anything to help the people of ireland?maybe they would not get the big publicity that they crave for if they did that?is it not strange that non bias republicans support the palestines?long live isreal.
