Belfast alert 'nothing untoward'

A suspicious object which sparked a security alert in Belfast city centre was nothing untoward, police have said.

Bridge Street and High Street were closed on Friday evening and a number of premises were evacuated as a result of the alert.

Army bomb squad experts were tasked to the scene and following an examination declared the object as nothing untoward.

All roads have reopened to traffic.
