The theft occurred at the Co Down park sometime between Monday 15 and Saturday 20 October.

The hives belong to members of the local beekeepers association and have a total value of £500.

The welfare of the insects is the prime concern of the owners, a police statement said.

Anyone with information about the theft or who noticed any unusual activity at the park is asked to contact police.
