A bank worker has been remanded in custody accused of grooming a 13-year-old girl in Belfast for sex.

Englishman Gareth Freeman, 31, has also been charged with child porn offences and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Freeman, of Regent Street, Mirfield, is alleged to have committed the offences between January and November last year.

He appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court after being arrested at his home.

A police officer who said she could connect him with the charges told how his social networking account had been frozen.

Freeman's lawyer disclosed that he had been working in a bank until his arrest.

Bail was refused after the district judge stressed the seriousness of crimes involving any grooming of children for sexual gratification.

Freeman was remanded in custody to appear in court again via video link later this month.
