A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an assault in east Belfast.

A 66-year-old man was stabbed in the head and neck at business premises on the Upper Newtownards Road on Tuesday at 3.30pm.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment to his injuries, but his condition is not known at this time.

A 49-year-old man was detained at the scene and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

There are no further details.
