Attackers stamp on man's head in Belfast

A 46-year-old man is in a stable condition in hospital after he sustained serious face and head injuries during an attack in Belfast city centre.

Police say the man was pushed to the ground by two men who stamped on his head outside a shoe shop on High Street at around 9.30pm on Thursday."Both of the attackers are described as having shaved heads. One is understood to have been wearing a stripy shirt and the other a blue shirt," a PSNI spokeswoman said."(The victim) remains in hospital at this time where his condition is believed to be stable."Detectives at Musgrave police station are investigating the assault.CHAR(13) + CHAR(10) CHAR(13) + CHAR(10)They believe a number of people were in the High Street area at the time of the incident.Witnesses have been asked to contact them by calling the non-emergency number 101.
