Arson attack on Newry home
There has been an arson attack on the home of a family from the travelling community in Newry.

The fire at the property in the Emmet Place area was reported just before 1.30am on Sunday morning.

It is believed the blaze started after a burning object was pushed through the letterbox.

No-one was inside at the time and a neighbour raised the alarm.

Local Sinn Fein Councillor Charlie Casey said it is lucky no-one was killed.

"If there had of been anyone at home at the time they were in danger plus the people next door were in imminent danger"

"It is lucky the fire alarm went off and fire fighters were able to get there within minutes" he added.
