Two people have been arrested after police raided a house In Banbridge, Co Down, uncovering an estimated £8'000 worth of cannabis.

A 24-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were detained by police at Hillhead Gardens on Friday for possession of Class B drugs, possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs.

The man was later released unconditionally while the woman was released on bail pending further enquiries.

PSNI Inspector Nigel Graham, of Banbridge Neighbourhood and Response, said: "This seizure is a direct result of the community working with us to tackle the issue of drugs and I would like to thank local residents for their ongoing support.

"We hope that this sends a clear message to anyone who is involved in the supply or use of illegal drugs - we will act on all information we receive and we will make arrests and bring you before the courts."
