The armed man approached a woman driving a green Toyota Yaris in the Pretoria Street area of Stranmillis on Monday at about 2.10pm.

He threatened her before getting into the vehicle with the woman still inside.

It is believed the man drove off towards the direction of Broomhill Park Central, before letting her out of the car.

The vehicle is thought to have then headed towards the Malone Road area.

A green Toyota Yaris was later discovered in the Main Street area of Crumlin. It is believed the car struck another vehicle, but no one was injured.

Two arrests have been made. A 17-year-old youth was detained on suspicion of aggravated taking and driving away.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of hijacking, possession of an offensive weapon, aggravated taking and driving away, possession of Class B drugs, common assault, no insurance and failing to stop.

They are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
