Police investigating an attempted hijacking in the Cairnhill area of Londonderry on Saturday morning have arrested two men.

Investigating officers have also seized a small crossbow following a search of a house in the city.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted hijacking, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, criminal damage and assault on police.

A 27-year-old has been arrested on suspicions of criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon, assault on police and resisting arrest.

Both men are in custody helping police with their enquiries.

The PSNI has appealed to anyone with information about the incident to contact them on 0845 600 8000.
