The 50-year-old's body was found at his house on Henderson Avenue, in the north of the city on 20 December.

He had last been seen alive on the previous evening.

Detectives investigating the murder had said that he was hit over the head with an axe and stabbed during a "savage" and "frenzied" attack.

It was his mother, believed to be aged in her 70s, who made the discovery.

A 29-year-old man, who was arrested in the south Belfast area on Tuesday morning, was later released by police without charge.
