Two Yugoslavian military origin high explosive hand grenades, a machine gun and two handguns were seized along with a quantity of ammunition during the search which sparked a security alert in the Hawkin Street area on Thursday 20 December.
Homes and businesses in the area were evacuated for several hours as police and army bomb experts worked to make the area safe.
Ecstasy and methadrone with a potential street value of £20,000 was also found at the scene.
The man was arrested in Meadowbank Court, near Queen's Quay, on Saturday morning by officers from the PSNI Organised Crime Branch.
He remains in police custody.
A 28-year-old man has already been charged in connection with the find.
