The man was detained after police searched a house in the Oldtown Road area in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The police were called to the house after reports of suspicious activity and, following the search, uncovered a large number of suspected cannabis plants.

The plants along with other items in the property have been seized.

The man remains in custody helping police with their enquiries.

Moyle Commander Brenda Cairns commented on the find: "Local officers have been working with the community to tackle the issue of drug supply and distribution. There can be no place for illegal drugs in safe societies.

"The seizure of these suspected drugs is an indication of our commitment to removing any type of drugs from circulation. Through seizures of this kind, we are reducing the harm that is caused to the community."

She appealed for anyone with information relating to drugs to contact the PSNI.
