It is believed the vehicle, which was taken at Twaddell Avenue following a fight between two men, was later involved in a crash in the Ballygomartin Road area.

A 21-year-old man was detained at Moyard Parade and is assisting police investigations.

The incident began just before 11.30pm on Saturday when it was reported that one man assaulted another man outside a house in the Twaddell area.

It's believed he took the keys to a Peugeot 206 car and drove off towards the Ballygomartin Road area, along with a second man who got into the car as it made off from the scene.

Then, at around 11.30pm, it was reported that the car was involved in a two vehicle road traffic incident at the junction of the Ballygomartin Road and the Forthriver Road area.

No injuries were reported in the crash and two men made off from the scene towards the West Circular Road area.

Police made an arrest shortly before 00:30am. The man is currently being questioned on suspicion of vehicle hijacking.
