He was approached by the armed pair outside the premises on Andersonstown Road on Monday at 9am.

A struggle broke out as the robbers tried to steal a quantity of money from the customer.

However, they made off empty handed in a grey coloured car.

The victim's arm was injured in the struggle, but a police spokesperson said that he did not require medical treatment.

The man carrying the knife was described as being around 5ft 5in tall, of slim build and was wearing a camouflage jacket with hood and a black scarf over his face.

The second male was about 5ft 11in and carried the hatchet.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the struggle - or suspicious activity on the Andersonstown Road - to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
