A PSNI spokesman said that police are aware of an incident which took place in licensed premises in the Ardoyne area on Monday at 12.30am.
It is understood that the statement warned a number of people to leave the area.
It is also believed the statement referred to the murder of Kevin Kearney in the area last week. Dissident republicans have been blamed for the fatal shooting.
Police enquiries are ongoing.
