Security alert at Niall's Crescent, Armagh
Two men, aged 21 and 23, have been arrested in connection with a security alert in Armagh, which has now ended.

A number of items have been removed for further examination, police said.

The army bomb squad were called at Niall's Crescent, at the junction with the Friary Road, on Thursday night.

A number of families, who had been evacuated, were allowed to return on Friday morning.

Ulster Unionist MLA for Newry and Armagh Danny Kennedy has expressed concern at the recent series of security alerts.

"Once again we have a situation where innocent people are being driven from their homes in the face of a security alert", he said.

"What makes this so disappointing is the fact that it has almost become a 'norm' in the Newry and Armagh area in recent weeks and months.

"We had hoped those days were behind us, but clearly there are those within our community who do not wish peace to prevail."
