A number of shots were fired from the area of Castlebalfour Road striking the rear of the police station last Monday at around 8.10pm. No one was injured in the gun attack.

Police believe that a grey/green coloured Volkswagen Passat was used by those responsible.

Shortly after 9pm that night, officers received a report of a saloon type car on fire about 13 miles away in the Moher Road area, off the Swanlinbar Road, in Kinawley.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Officers have since recovered the vehicle and are investigating a link between this car and the attack on the station."

Detectives are appealing to anyone who noticed the Volkswagen Passat in the Lisnaskea or the south west Fermanagh areas, or any suspicious activity in the areas between 7pm and 9pm on Monday, 23 December to contact them.
