A man has been assaulted by up to five men in the New Lodge area of north Belfast.

The incident happened in the Edlingham Street/Newlodge Road area of Belfast on Thursday.

At around 9.30pm the man was assaulted by four to five unknown men.

He received facial injuries and was taken to hospital.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact them at York Road on 0845 600 8000.
