One of them, aged 39, was released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service, while the other, who is 47, was released unconditionally.

It followed a security operation at Norglen Crescent earlier on Thursday, during which officers from the Serious Crime Branch discovered a "suspicious object".

The army bomb squad was tasked to the scene and the area was closed to traffic for a time, however all cordons have now been lifted.

A number of items were taken away for further examination.

Police said: "A security operation at Norglen Crescent, which followed searches by detectives from Serious Crime Branch investigating paramilitary-style attacks, has ended."

A spokesman added that there are no further details at present.
