An Irish High Court judge has warned he was anxious to push ahead with an extradition case against the brother of Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams over sex abuse charges.

Liam Adams appeared briefly at Dublin's High Court on Wednesday where his challenge to an arrest warrant from Northern Ireland was again postponed for another two weeks.

Investigators in Belfast want to question the 54-year-old on 18 charges of sexual abuse, including rape, indecent assault and gross indecency, against his daughter.

Mr Adams, who handed himself over to the Garda in March after a European arrest warrant was served, is planning to fight the extradition request.

The alleged offences against his daughter Aine Tyrell, who waived her right to anonymity last December, date from March 1977 to March 1983.

Lawyers for Mr Adams said they were awaiting further affidavits before they could fully prepare their case against the extradition request.

Judge Michael Peart warned he was "most anxious" to press ahead and remanded Adams, who was in court for the short hearing, on continuing bail until 21 July.
