A teenager has been abducted and shot in a paramilitary style attack in west Belfast.
The 18-year-old was abducted by a gang of four masked men at La Salle Drive on the Falls Road shortly before 10pm.
Police said he was forced into an old silver 406 Peugeot estate car and driven a short distance away to the Corrib Avenue area.
He was taken out of the vehicle and shot twice, once in each leg.
He was taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
An SDLP councillor for the area has condemned the shooting.
"This is a totally despicable act," Tim Attwood said. "It was wrong when the IRA was carrying these attacks out and nothing has changed now.
"The west Belfast community endorses the rule of law and those who take the law into their own hands and act as judge, jury and executioner have no support from the rest of the community."
Alliance MLA Anna Lo has expressed her disgust at those behind the attack.
"I am sickened that such a horrendous attack was carried out. This was a callous and brutal crime that was carried out by a bunch of thugs that nobody wants on our streets."
