£900k of drugs seized in south Belfast

An estimated £900k of herbal cannabis has been seized after police raided two houses in south Belfast.

The properties were searched by the PSNI's Organised Crime Branch on Wednesday.Cannabis worth £500k and other drugs paraphernalia were found and seized at a house on Rugby Avenue, in the Holyland area.At the second property, on Haypark Avenue, just off the Ormeau Road, herbal cannabis worth £400k was also seized along with drugs paraphernalia.Detective Chief Inspector Catherine Montgomery, from Organised Crime Branch, said: "This significant seizure further reinforces our determination to remove controlled drugs from the streets of Northern Ireland."The potential harm to the public caused by drugs is an issue that the PSNI take seriously.
