While in the home of an elderly lady who lived in Divis flats some years ago I heard a woman who was out on her balcony boasting to another female about the make of car her son was driving that evening,[ the second he had hijacked and was a better make than the first]. I have since then believed a number of parents know exactly what these young thugs who belong to them are up to. They either turn a blind eye denying their son's are responsible or they simply genuinely couldn't give a fig. The many decent people who live in the area are likely to know who the thugs are but are just as likely to be too frightened to stand up and name names and who can blame them? The perpetrators are not all 'youths.' A car was stolen from my home and wrecked by a 'joy' rider who was no youth at 28 years old.
