Fourteen people were rescued after becoming stranded in the Mourne Mountains in Co Down, a police spokesperson said.
Police received a call from a person who, along with the group, had become lost in the area of Cove Mountain shortly before 5.30pm on Saturday.
PSNI air support was tasked along with land crew backup.
Two people were taken off the mountain by helicopter.
Police said all the individuals were in '"good physical health at this time".
Inspector Kieran Quinn praised the professionalism of PSNI colleagues, especially personnel from the air support unit.
He said: "Our pilots performed magnificently - they coped with fading light conditions, tricky terrain to perfect a safe and successful rescue".
"We're delighted that all concerned have returned safe and well", he added.
