Officers found the quantity of drugs during a planned search of a house in the Barron's Hill area on Friday.

A sum of money and other drug related paraphernalia was also seized from the property.

Commenting on the drug seizure Area Commander, Chief Inspector Davy Beck said:

"Communities regularly voice their concerns about the impact that drugs have on young people and the wider associated anti-social behaviour issues that accompany drug misuse.

"I assure the community that my officers are committed to tackling the issue of drugs.

"By reporting any information or concerns that you may have in relation to drug activity or suspected drug activity, you are reducing the harm caused in communities by drugs."

Won't impact on the UK's £6Billion/Year drug industry one bit. Decriminalising all drugs is the only way forward, these small-time busts are just so petit and laughable. The dealers are in control and always will be as long as drugs remain illegal.

happy face you sound like you work for the police? why do you think drugs are the biggest threat to kids? as opposed to alcohol which i should remind you is also a drug?? this approach to policing drugs has no effect is is simply a waste of money and a way for police to notch up figures. the money wasted on this raid would have been better spent on education and treatment. to claim cannabis as the cause of our societys ills is insane considering the ammount of chronic alcholics in this town!! i suppose that hostel at the bottom of the falls road is full of cannabis addicts happy face? maybe you own a licenced premisis?

Great news, hate the sight of drugs or drug dealers on the streets, bessbrook has a growing problem for years and unfortunately other areas in south armagh are also affected that a few years ago the word illegal drug was unheard of

Its only a bit of weed. Drink is far more dangerous, causes more injuries, fights, arrests, visits to A&E, deaths etc.... Its not addictive, is legal in many countries. They would be better off going after hard drugs like heroin cocaine and not drugs that are harmless

And the hits keep on coming. Brilliant news, Once again the P.S.N.I. have taken drugs off the streets. Every time i hear of an operation to take the drug dealers head on it makes me feel brilliant as a parent. We should be grateful for all the hard work the drug squad put into these operations. Any one who knows of drugs should report it. They are probably the biggest factor in young kids taking their own lives. And the filth that sell drugs to kids should be put away for a very long time, i dont think the jail time drug dealers get is much to wright home about, We need new laws and stiffer sentances for these drug dealers. But any way keep up the brilliant work.
