It happened at the Dublin Road premises on Friday shortly after 5pm.

Two men used a small white van to gain access to the bank. One of the men then entered the building, grabbing the substantial amount of cash.

They fled the scene in the van in the direction of Carrickmacross.

No-one was injured during the robbery.

Gardaí are appealing for any sightings of a small white coloured van with two men onboard in the vicinity of Castleblayney, Carrickmacross or Cullaville prior to or after 5pm on Friday to be reported to them.

The PSNI were alerted by the gardaí on Friday evening about the bank raid and are assisting in the operation.

A statement from the PSNI said: "PSNI and An Garda Siochana work together on an ongoing basis to assist in investigations wherever necessary."
