£16m funding boost for new University campus

£16m boost for university campus
The Universtiy of Ulster has been given a £16m government grant to help its planned expanion of its Belfast campus.

Employment and Learning Minister Sir Reg Empey on Thursday night announced the support for the £250m development.

The University has proposed moving most of its courses to its Belfast art college campus.

Vice Chancellor Professor Richard Barnett has welcomed the plans,

"The University of Ulster welcomes the commitment the Minister has made towards supporting the ongoing development of our city centre campus in York Street."

These plans would see University of Ulster student numbers in the city centre rise from 2,000 to 14,000.
