Dawn Crother's piece 'Jeremy the Snail' will be one of the paintings on sale
Famous local artists and photographers alike have come together to give a financial boost to the Ben Clark Foundation by contributing their work to be sold in aid of the charity.

The fund-raising art sale will take place in the historic setting of the recently-restored Meter House in Belfast's Gasworks site this on February 27 from 5pm to 8pm.

There is something for all tastes and budgets in the sale and even local pop heroes Snow Patrol will be indirectly helping raise funds for the charity through the much-anticipated sale of a limited edition print.

The charity's fundraising organiser Christian Clark enlisted the help of Holywood gallery owners Stephen Whalley and Dawn Crothers who have not only helped him assemble an impressive selection of art, but are also donating some of their own work to the sale.

Christian, a stylist at Blue Hairdressing in Clarence Street, Belfast, said: "This art sale will offer members of the public, as well as invited guests, the opportunity to buy art and images from famous names like photographers Chris Hill, Bradley Quinn and Kara Pringle.

There will also be fine art from Tory Island painter Ian Fleming, Markey Robinson, Stephen McKeown and Ken Hamilton as well as a beautiful ceramic piece by artist Derek Wilson - all being sold at below gallery prices."

One of the star attractions of the sale will be a special print donated by Snow Patrol's official photographer Bradley Quinn.

Bradley is the brother of Snow Patrol's drummer Jonny Quinn and he created the striking limited edition montage photograph using 1500 live images taken over three nights when the band played to sell out audiences at Belfast's Odyssey Arena in March 2009.

The combined images make up the famous cover of the band's 2003 album Final Straw and the artwork, which is printed on canvas, is expected to be sold for around £800.

Bradley, who is currently preparing an exhibition entitled Crack the Shutters to be staged at the Waterfront Hall in July, said: "I was delighted to be able to support the Ben Clark Foundation after attending their annual dinner last year.

"I knew the perfect image to donate as it attracted so much interest at my previous exhibition. The band signed the artwork in December when they played the Waterfront Hall so this is a special piece and a must have for any real fan."

The exhibition in the Meter House at the gasworks was a great success on Saturday evening, selling over 2/3 of the artwork on sale. On behalf of the Ben Clark Foundation I would like to thank everyone for making the evening such a success and hope the exhibition will now be a date on the calender for years to come. Many Thanks Stephen Whalley
