The boyband decided to dump their old moniker after guest judge Sharon Osbourne said it sounded like the name of a virus.
Greg, Mickey and Dan asked fans for suggestions and received thousands of them before eventually settling on District3.
They were pleased to have it sorted out ahead of the first live show on Saturday evening.
"The response from everyone has been brilliant," said 18-year-old Greg.
"We never thought we'd get so many suggestions. Deciding on a new name has been our
homework all week!"
Mickey, also 18, added: "We've spent the last few days walking around with highlighter pens and thousands of names to try and decide on the right one for us.
"Luckily we all agreed on District3."
And 19-year-old Dan said: "After all the confusion our last name caused we are really happy to have a new name. I was starting to think people would call us GMTV forever! We're really happy with our new name - District3 has been born!"
District3 line up with the other 11 finalists for the first of the live shows, while four 'wildcards' have also faced the public vote this week and one of them will become the 13th finalist when the show gets underway from 8pm on UTV.
