It may attract tourists from all over the globe, but it's not every day you stumble across a world-class ballerina at the Giant's Causeway - unless you're a particularly lucky photographer.

Pacemaker press snapper Charles McQuillan took to Twitter over the weekend to share one of the stunning shots he captured at the World Heritage site on Sunday.

The tutu-clad dancer cut a striking figure as she posed gracefully amid the rocks.

And it transpired she was actually both a Royal Ballet Company star and a Northern Ireland native.

Home-grown talent Melissa Hamilton, from Dromore in Co Down, joined the company in 2007.

She has been working her way through the ranks ever since, to earn the position of First Soloist just last year.

Among the many Twitter users to comment on the beauty of the picture was Sinn Féin deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness.

He also shared the image using the hashtag #infootstepsofgiants.
