Gordon Brown said he was "deeply saddened" by her death.
"The whole country has admired her determination to provide a bright future for her children", the Prime Minister said.
"She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her and her family can be extremely proud of the work she has done to raise awareness of cervical cancer, which will benefit thousands of women across the UK."
Her publicist Max Clifford said: "She faced her death in the way she faced her whole life - full on, with a lot of courage."
Big Brother producer Phil Edgar-Jones said Goody "touched a lot of people because she was very real.
"She both appalled and enthralled people in equal measure," he said. "You had never seen anything like Jade on a prime-time TV show."
Yet even those who responded to her frankness and honesty could never have predicted the reality's star rise to fame would end with praise for her contribution to saving lives.
Raising awareness
Harpal Kumar, Cancer Research UK`s chief executive, said Goody had done a "great public service" by raising awareness of the importance of cervical screening.
"Her brave battle with an aggressive form of cervical cancer has received widespread public attention and encouraged thousands of women to seek advice on how to prevent the disease," he said.
The Rev Jonathan Blake, who officiated at Goody and Tweed's marriage ceremony, called the bride "a saint from Upshire and a princess from Bermondsey" who had "laughed in the face of death and given us a completely different approach to the way we deal with cancer".
Goody faced a storm of controversy over her treatment of fellow Celebrity Big Brother contestant Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty in 2007 but the pair later became friends.
The actress said she was "deeply saddened" by her death, adding: "I am glad Jade is out of pain and that she died peacefully with her family around her."
Model and presenter Danielle Lloyd, who also shared the house with Goody, said: "I have been praying for a miracle these past few weeks and now she has been tragically taken away from us. I know that her boys will grow up to be great men and do their mum proud."
'A kind of Princess D'
On Twitter actor Stephen Fry called her "a kind of Princess D from the wrong side of the tracks".
On Sunday, mourners arrived at Goody`s house within minutes of the news of her death breaking, leaving floral tributes at the gates of her home.
Jade Goody`s funeral will take place at a church near her home early next month.
The reality TV star will be buried following a service at a church in Essex, on April 4th.
Details have yet to be finalised.
