Dancing On Ice's latest evictee Todd Carty has said his mission during his time on the ice was to "skate like no-one was watching".

The former EastEnders actor became the fifth celebrity to leave the competition on Sunday, after the judges decided to save actress Zarrah Abrahams following the skate-off.

But before he left the show, Todd and his professional skating partner Alexandra Schmaucher treated viewers to a re-creation of the infamous routine from 2009, which saw Todd losing control and skating into the studio's ice tunnel.

However this time round it was professional Alexandra who zoomed off-set, only to return at the end of the performance.

Todd may not have been in the same league as the rest of this year's contestants, who are competing for the title of champion of champions, but viewers enjoyed watching his antics on the ice.

"I had my time and I had great fun this time round," he told This Morning's Phillip and Holly.

"I wasn't so nervous this time and I just skated like no-one was watching.

"It was nice to be invited back for the champion of champions, they had me they had Joe (Pasquale) and a few not so good skaters but I have to say it was great fun.

"I felt the love (from the public), I suppose I represent the dad that used to go around the side of the rink and then he progresses his way to the middle.

"I got round it and I didn't need a hearse and I didn't need an ambulance."

And his partner Alexandra was full of praise for the actor, she said: "Skating with Todd has been a rollercoaster or like a box of chocolates - you're not sure what you are going to get on the night.

"Our aim was to go out and have a lot of fun, because I know he was nervous."

Todd joked he will take great delight in watching the rest of the series from the comfort of his sofa with a glass of wine, but he promised he would be back on the ice as part of the goodbye celebrations for Dancing On Ice's final series.
