The young star appeared in the first two series of the fantasy drama as Myrcella Baratheon, the sister of the evil King Joffrey, but the princess was eventually shipped off to Dorne by her uncle, Tyrion Lannister, in a bid to strengthen the family's hold on the Iron Throne.
But it was revealed during this year's Comic-Con Myrcella would reappear on screen in series five - which is currently filming in Northern Ireland - and the role had been recast with a younger actress.
Richardson reacted to the news by posting a Vine video online with the title: "Well this is embarrassing" and is seen sitting in the street with a tiara on her head, holding up a sign which reads "princess for hire".
The hilarious clip has now made headlines around the world as media outlets praised the star for her tongue-in-cheek response to the news, and it even caught the attention of US celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.
Speaking to UTV about the viral video, Aimee said she made the clip in an attempt to "lighten the mood".
She said: "After the announcement was made a lot of people were sending me really lovely messages about how sorry they were and I decided that I'd just make fun of myself a little bit and lighten the mood.
"So I recruited my mum to come out in the street with me."
Reacting to the attention the video has received, she added: "It all happened quite fast because the first few days there wasn't really much talk about it and then all of a sudden it was Perez Hilton, MTV, BBC America and I still haven't quite got my head around it.
"I think a lot of people were expecting me to bad mouth Game of Thrones and HBO but that's not what I'm trying to do at all. I have nothing but amazing memories of being on set and just loved it."
However, the big question is whether or not the video has paid off and has she received any job offers?
"I'm not sure I should be answering that!" she joked.
