The X Factor heading to US TV

Executives at America's Fox network axed the American version of Simon Cowell's singing competition after only three seasons earlier this year, but now bosses at music entertainment channel AXS TV are hoping to find success by airing the UK's upcoming 11th series in the US.

Series creator Cowell served as a judge on The X Factor from 2004 until 2010, when he left the show to help launch the American version.

Cowell returned to the UK edition this year, and is joined by returning judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, former Spice Girls star Mel B and Louis Walsh on the judges' panel.

The X Factor will return to UTV on 30 August, with the US premiere one day later on 31 August.
