Working as part of the midwife team at the Royal Victoria Hospital's Maternity Unit in Belfast, Helen has been helping to deliver babies for over 35 years.
"It's my work that keeps me going, I just love my mummies and my babies," Helen told The Magazine's Sarah Travers.
"I love my work so much, I'm so, so happy."
People Like You recognises those who have gone the extra mile in their lives.
Helen's colleagues nominated her for the award for her years of hard work and dedication in helping mothers bring their babies into the world.
Helen, who has also had to overcome her own personal battle with cancer, said: "I don't think I am any more special than any other midwife in this place."
One of the many babies Helen has helped to deliver was little Oisin, and his mum Maeve was full of praise for her midwife.
She said: "I couldn't have done it without Helen, it was just an absolutely fantastic day and we ended up with (Oisin)."
The Magazine with Sarah Travers returns to UTV on Friday from 8pm.
