The Fall nominated for Irish TV award

Belfast-based drama The Fall has been nominated in the best television drama category at this year's Irish Film and Television Awards.

Co Down actor Jamie Dornan - who plays serial killer Paul Spector in the popular series - has also been shortlisted for best actor in a leading role.

The IFTAs honour the best in Irish productions and acting talent.

Game of Thrones, which is partly filmed in Northern Ireland, has also been nominated in the best drama category, with Liam Cunningham and Aiden Gillian both shortlisted for the best supporting actor award.

Meanwhile Coleraine born actress Michelle Fairley, who played Catelyn Stark in the HBO series, has been nominated for the best supporting actress award.

Irish funnyman turned Hollywood star, Chris O'Dowd, has been shortlisted for the best actor in a leading role award for his part in the hit series Moone Boy.

In the film categories Colin Farrell is included among the best supporting actor nominees for his role in Saving Mr Banks, as has Irish born Michael Fassbender for 12 years a Slave.

The awards will be presented at a ceremony in Dublin on 5 April.
