And it only took a minute to uncover footage of Gary and his fresh-faced bandmates in action.

Back in 1992, Take That were still on the brink of the hysteria surrounding the group - something that would see fans left in need of counselling when a split was announced just four years later.

Taking centre stage during the Kelly Show, Gary was joined by Mark Owen, Robbie Williams, Howard Donald and Jason Orange to perform their latest single Once You've Tasted Love.

The stylish, post-reunion, 'man-band' days were still to come and back then, it was all peroxide blonde spiky hair (Gary) or floppy fringes (pretty much everyone else) and dubious leather trousers.

"The sweat's running off me just looking at them," host Gerry Kelly declared.

On Saturday's X Factor, Gary told a wannabe girl band: "There's always a member who can't dance."

Rival judge Geri Halliwell seemed to agree and declared herself the "Gary Barlow" of the Spice Girls.

"Hang on, I was talking about you!" Gary protested.

But since the early days, the talented singer and songwriter has now realised he can either hide behind a piano or just leave the dance moves to the others. Now, that's a smart move ...
