Susan Boyle remains at the top of the album chart for the third week running with her debut release I Dreamed A Dream, the Official UK Charts Company said.

The X Factor effect struck once more in the singles chart as Lady Gaga climbed two places to number one with Bad Romance after performing on the show last week.

The eccentric American singer burst into the UK charts for the first time back in January when her debut single Just Dance went straight to number one.

She also climbed 10 places in the album chart, with The Fame jumping from 12 to number two.
The album has sold more than four million copies worldwide and is the UK's biggest selling album of the year so far.

Boyle will be hoping her debut long player, which shifted more than 410,000 copies in its first week alone, will pip The Fame to the top of the best-of-year charts.

Michael Buble, who appeared twice on the show, was up three places to number three with his album Crazy Love, and Black Eyed Peas were up one place to number four with The End.

In the singles chart, The Official BBC Children in Need Medley by Peter Kay's Animated All Stars dropped one place to number two.

The X Factor finalists' charity single, a cover of Michael Jackson's You Are Not Alone in aid of Great Ormond Street children's hospital, dropped from five to 11.

Rihanna's Russian Roulette was shunted down a place to number three, while the Black Eyed Peas held on at number four.

The Pogues' Christmas favourite Fairytale Of New York was up to number 18 and Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You was just behind at number 19.

Veteran presenter Sir Terry Wogan, together with Welsh singer Aled Jones, was new in at number 27 with Silver Bells/Me And My Teddy Bear.
