The Rolling Stones' huge show in London's Hyde Park sold out in just three minutes when tickets went on sale on Friday morning.

The venue has a capacity of 65,000 and tickets for the historic concert were quickly snapped up by fans desperate to see the Brown Sugar hitmakers play at the park for the first time since 1969.

The gig was labelled as sold out just three minutes after the tickets went on general sale.

A message posted on the band's official Twitter page reads: "Stones Hyde Park is now sold out! Congratulations to everyone who got tickets. See you on 6 July!"

The band has previously come under fire for stinging fans with high ticket prices, with stubs for the Hyde Park show retailing for between £95 and £299, but frontman Sir Mick Jagger expects some devotees will be able to scale the fence and see the concert for free, telling Absolute Radio: "I'm sure there's still room over the fence for a few free ones... I'm not obsessed with ticket prices."

The rockers are rumoured to be planning a second Hyde Park show to fulfil the high demand.

Tickets for the Hyde Park show were being exchanged online for prices of up to £2,500 each within hours of the concert selling out.
