Actor Ben Stiller ensured his fellow New Yorkers didn't go hungry in the wake of superstorm Sandy this week by serving food at a shelter.

The post-tropical cyclone struck the Big Apple on Monday, destroying thousands of homes and leaving millions of people without power.

Stiller, who lives in the city, has been calling for donations to the clean-up via his Twitter page, and on Friday he pitched in with the effort.

He was spotted at a shelter in Brooklyn, where he donned a neon reflective volunteer jacket to serve up food, including pancakes, bacon and eggs, to hungry locals.
