Thousands applauded in unison after a classic Stereophonics performance in Belfast.
A farewell rendition of Dakota brought the crowd together in admiration while Maybe Tomorrow on the acoustic guitar left the hairs on the back of the neck on edge.
The Welsh rockers displayed all their versatility of pace and rhythm - at one point even using a piano - as they delighted fans at the Belsonic festival on Friday night.
Classics like A Thousand Trees and Local Boy in the Photograph were interspersed with musical polemics against credit card misuse and even journalists.
Lead singer Kelly Jones' husky tones were as distinctive as ever and his showmanship was present to the last as he walked off to the strains of Marvin Gaye's Let's Get it On.
Yet the three-piece largely let their music do the talking as they thrilled the mainly 30-something audience at Custom House Square.
This was their first time in Belfast since 2007 at the Odyssey Arena and while their set appeared to pass all too quickly, the ability of Spanish drummer Javier Weyler, Richard Jones and Kelly Jones to capture the audience was undiminished.
The Jones' have known each other since their school days, performing in Cardiff working mens clubs. Richard Branson signed them for his new record label in 1996. Weyler stepped in as drummer from his former role as sound technician and has never looked back.
Billed as the city's biggest music event this summer, some of Europe's best-known names performed over the course of the eight-day Belsonic festival.
A record 40,000 people were expected to attend.
Paul Weller, DJ David Guetta and Biffy Clyro are also lined up to entertain the crowds as well as highly rated local groups Cashier Number 9 and General Fiasco.
This is the third year of Belsonic and it has grown every time.
Previous headliners include Dizzee Rascal, the Zutons, the Flaming Lips and Duke Special.
